rhondaLet’s be honest. For a newbie, the world of skincare can be a bit confusing and maybe even a little intimidating. There are products for nearly everything – from cleansers to toners to serums to moisturizers to sunscreens, and knowing exactly what to use and in what order can be overwhelming. Lucky for you, our Pulse Laser staff has come up with a quick step-by-step guide to help your routine become effortless!

Step 1: Cleanse/Exfoliate

For both A.M and P.M a good cleanser is highly recommended for daily use. Depending on your skin type, you might either opt for a deep cleanser, like the Rhonda Allison Skin Brightening Cleanser, or for more sensitive skin, the Milk Plus which is lightweight and fragrance free. Once a week all skin types should be using an exfoliant like the Brightening Scrub, which removes dead skin and evens your complexion for a natural glow.

Step 2: Toner

Many people underestimate the power of a great toner and may not think this step is important. I’m going to be a good friend and let you know that you are very wrong! This step provides an extra layer of hydration, lifts dirt and oil from the pores that your cleanser didn’t catch, and puts your skin back into the proper pH balance. This is especially important for acne prone or oily skin.

Step 3: Serum

Ah, my favorite step of all. Massaging this product into the skin is not only soothing, but insanely powerful! It should be lightweight and filled with ingredients like botanical extracts and antioxidants. Personally, I can’t get enough of the Amino Peptide Serum. It has a pro-collagen complex that reduces the appearance of wrinkles.

Step 4: Moisturizer

Does this really need an explanation? I will however recommend that when applying this product, you do so in an upward and outward motion. This allows you to massage the tissue, wake up the muscles and stimulates the natural production of collagen. It is very important moisturize in the A.M as well as P.M no matter if you have dry or oily skin.

Step 5: Eye Cream

The skin around the eyes is very thin and is packed with oil glands. Using an eye cream in the morning and at night is crucial as well. Keeping this area hydrated helps to tighten the skin in this delicate area and prevents against premature aging.

Step 6: Sunscreen

As the seasons change, people are under the impression that this step becomes less important or even unnecessary. I am definitely guilty of skipping a few days, but whenever the sun is out, wear your sunscreen! Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall you still need to protect your skin. UV rays are not exactly friendly, and for certain skin types they can be all the more damaging all year round.
