Say goodbye to sunken cheeks and smile lines! The FDA recently approved the global health care company Galderma to market their product Restylane Lyft for the correction of age-related midface contour deficiencies and cheek augmentation in patients over 21. So what exactly does that mean? You’ve now got a new option to rejuvenate your face without surgery!
The cheeks are key for youthful look. Strong cheekbones help make you look younger and improve your appearance. Unfortunately, because our faces lose volume over time, it’s easy to look more tired and older than we feel. This is where Restylane Lyft saves the day.
It is a dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid, an ingredient naturally found in the body. When injected into the cheeks it can correct the appearance of tissue loss, as well as lift sagging skin. This treatment can also be used to smooth nasolabial folds (smile lines), making it the first and only filler that has been approved by the FDA for use in both areas.
While Restylane Lyft is still pretty new, it’s already proven successful. A clinical trial with 200 patients found that 95% saw an improvement in fullness two months after injection, and 73% continued to see positive results after a year.
The procedure is relatively quick, taking around 20 minutes, with little to no pain when a topical anesthetic is applied before injection! Results last between 10 to 18 months or longer with repeated use.
Though uncommon, Restylane Lyft is not without certain risks. Side effects seen in the trial can include swelling, redness, bruising, itching and tenderness. Because of this, no matter what treatment you’re seeking, it’s important to consult with a qualified physician.
